Areas of Expertise

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders and severe mental illness. Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life.

Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy

Ecosystemic structural family therapy (ESFT) is a treatment for children and families experiencing behavioral or relational challenges and is based on the theory that change in family structure contributes to change in the behavior of individual members. ESFT begins with the fundamental assumption that both the child and caregivers' functioning are linked to their relational environments at home and in the community.

Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy

Exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP;EX/RP) is a treatment for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) involving exposure to situations or cues that trigger recurrent, intrusive, and distressing thoughts (obsessions) or provoke repetitive behaviors (compulsions), followed by abstinence from the compulsive behavior. Typically, exposures are conducted in a graduated fashion.

My Approach

My approach to treatment is interpersonal and integrative. I take into account all aspects of a person including physical well being, genetics, cultural identities, environmental aspects, behavioral patterns and past experiences. Using various modalities, my focus in therapy is to help individuals, children, adolescents, and families recognize their own strengths and develop bonds that promote a positive sense of well- being.

I believe that treatment should be tailored to you and your own unique needs. Therapy can be focused on different areas of your life such as improving your mood, exploring various identities, improving your ability to manage your emotions, exploring family issues, parenting, processing interpersonal problems or just wanting to enhance your quality of life.

I strive to make the therapeutic relationship a space that is safe and supportive in order to promote personal growth. I am passionate about helping others and I work hard to understand your needs. Through our connection I hope to walk along side you in your journey, encouraging you, and empowering you along the way.
